My name is Gaye Goodman. Since 1995 I have run a successful floor staining business in But that’s not all. What puts us head and shoulders above our competitors is the fact that I was trained as a fine arts painter. To me, our floors aren’t just a slab to make look pretty it’s a canvas on which to create an extraordinary visual experience. In 2003, I realized that the unique knowledge and experience I had acquired would be of value to others who were interested in doing their own floors or getting into the business. I did my first video, How to Stain Concrete Floors and put it on the market. The response was greater than I ever imagined. In response to my customers’ hunger for more information, I wrote the first edition of Acid Staining Secrets of the Pros Tips and Tricks. It gave my readers all the little inside secrets that you can only learn by doing something for years. Later I wrote the Advanced Artistic Techniques manual to offer the key creative techniques and artistic perspective that sets my work apart. In 2005 I overhauled the whole package extending the video, rewriting the Artistic manual and creating a new manual Fundamentals of Concrete Staining. I also produced with my crew a new DVD on how to maintain stained floors so you can enjoy them for years. The result of all this effort has been that our customers have realized that we offer the most comprehensive and complete written and video material on Artistic Concrete Staining in the world. We have sold thousands of copies to satisfied customers in more than forty countries all over the globe. |

My seminars have brought people from as far as I have to be honest when I first got into acid staining I thought it was a passing fad. Now, over ten years later, the industry is booming more than ever. In fact, decorative work is now the fastest growing segment of the entire concrete industry and, for the contractors out there, it’s also the most profitable! Stained concrete seems to be everywhere in homes, at work, in the places we shop and go for entertainment. Its versatility, cost-effectiveness, endurance, and ease of maintenance make it the right choice for many interior and exterior spaces. With this huge increase in demand for stained concrete floors, there have been a lot of people who got into the business thinking it would be an easy way to make money. Unfortunately, many of them failed to prepare themselves with proper training on how to stain concrete. The result is that many so called professional stainers wind up ruining the slab and leaving something that has to be covered over with tile or carpet. Nearly one-third of the calls I receive are to fix the mistakes of another floor stainer. Usually, there’s nothing I can do. The slab has been ruined by an inexperienced “pro”. If you are thinking of staining as a career, many people have successfully used my approach as the foundation for their own decorative concrete business. Even with little to no experience as a tradesman, several of these individuals are now doing six or seven figures in decorative concrete work each year! If you are Planning a Take it from me, regardless of what you hear elsewhere it is unlikely that you will be able to create the stained concrete finish you want without some training. You are going to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars in materials on your floor, which could last for the entire life of the property if done correctly. Why not invest a small portion of that into the training you need to achieve a look you will be happy with? You may have experience with concrete work, laying tile, or painting and feel you have all the expertise you need to stain a floor. Chances are, this knowledge won't get you very far on an acid staining project. There is one primary reason that acid staining concrete is a different kind of project from other flooring options: Every slab is unique That’s right! Just like a fingerprint, every slab in every home or office in the world is one of a kind. From the composition of the materials, to how it was poured, to how it was troweled, even what mix was in the concrete truck before your slab was poured. Add to that the fact that unlike others floor finishes, acid stain is translucent. Rather than covering the slab with color, it creates a chemical reaction that transforms the color of the concrete itself. It doesn’t cover up the imperfections in the slab, it accentuates them. Therefore, every slab you stain will have a slightly different reaction to the same products and the same techniques. That is the source of its stone-like beauty. That is why even seasoned contractors need to learn some new principles before tackling an acid staining project. But why not hear it from those who know firsthand. Here is what a few of the people who have studied my materials have to say... |

Experienced acid stainers are able to work the uniqueness of the slab into their design. They can pull the eye to certain areas while detracting it from others. They can emphasize the texture of the concrete when appealing, and camouflage it when not. Who Can Learn These Techniques? Would you paint your own house? Do your own landscaping? What I’m really asking is, do you have at least the basic do-it-yourselfer skill set and frame of mind? If so, you can stain your own floors. It will take a bit of planning and likely several days of moderate labor, but there is no reason you can’t create your own professional looking floor finish. I want to help you create the perfect floor... Training other people in decorative concrete has become a top priority of mine. I still run a decorative concrete company in We have gathered all of our most closely guarded techniques and assembled them into two manuals, The Fundamentals of Acid Staining and Artistic Acid Staining. With nearly 300 pages between them, they are by far the most intensive training materials in the decorative concrete industry. Many thousands of people have already used these training systems to create gorgeous stained concrete finishes. Would you like to create floors like these? My crew and I can show you how. Our library of training solutions contains the highest quality DVDs and reading materials in the industry. The education I offer is heralded as the most in-depth in the decorative concrete industry. The combination of books and video is the most productive training combination I've found. You can see how the actual steps are being done in the video then use the books to expand on these steps, and troubleshoot the hundreds of potential problems you could run into along the way. Why am I Sharing All of my Trade Secrets? I have spoken to floor stainers around the country who question my sanity in writing books like these and "teaching the competition" every artistic device which we have labored to produce. Shouldn't we hold some methods back as "proprietary secrets" so that our floors will be unique? The answer is simple. The more educated the customers and the better trained the stainers, the higher the quality of staining work that will be done. The better the acid staining work, the more certain we can be that concrete staining will endure as an important architectural medium. It will be a creative floor treatment that is accessible financially to almost anyone who either wants to hire a contractor or do it themselves. Improving the level of knowledge is good for property owners and it’s good for the industry. That’s all there is to it. I’ve packaged my materials into three different bundles so you can choose the one that suits your needs the best.
Relative to the cost of your home, office or other building you are improving and what you will spend in time and materials, the cost of your Acid Staining Secrets of the Pros materials are a bargain. If you want to do your own floors, good preparation will give you the ability to do the job right and experience the profound satisfaction that comes from having created fabulous floors that we enjoy every day as professional stainers. |
